POPULATION - An asset or A burden ?

Recently, UN published a report on population , where UN pointed out that the population of India will surpass population that of China by 2027. This estimation came much earlier than it was expected and there have been many speculation about " How India will look like being the most populous country". Many debates are going on where political leaders and others, are suggesting that the population will not do any benefit to India and this must be controlled by a strict law , unless we do it , we will be in a huge crisis. But the question is,"Is really the situation such like that or Is it an exaggeration?". Firstly, we have to look at the current position of India which is the host to highest youth population around the whole world , which is called as "demographic dividend ",  where working population becomes higher than non-working population . ONE NATION , ONE ELECTIONS - issues and way forward

Image
The idea of "ONE NATION, ONE ELECTION" is not new to India , the initial elections which started from 1951 and stretched back till 1967 were simultaneous elections for both the parliament and the state legislative assemblies , but the cycle got disrupted due to premature dissolutions of some state legislative assemblies in 1968 and 1969, and dissolution of parliament in 1970. Two conclusion were drawn from the previous test of simultaneous elections :- 1) The party at center got the lead in centre as well as at state assemblies. And, 2) The idea is not viable in long term to every time conduct simultaneous elections.  This idea was again taken by Law commission in its report published in 1999 , where law commission told to revert back to Simultaneous election for the parliament and the state legislative assemblies. In 2014 , BJP in its manifesto for election mentioned to have a political debate on the idea to have electoral reforms by taking the idea of "ONE NATIO...

Everyone sees India as a potential market due to our youth population as we have highest youth population in the whole world  and this period is proudly referred as "Demographic dividend" era of india which according to various sources is from 2005-2055. But if we see "are we really getting benefit of this era as a country?" , this question has been repeatedly asked . So, let's talk about first the economy in general then we will proceed to economy of India . Basically, every economy has three stages of development , in each stage one particular sector develops and open opportunity to the other sector to develop. 1) In the first phase , generally the primary sector or the sector which provide raw things e.g., ag...

National education policy

Image
Government of India after election of 2019 confessed to focus on education and drafted a new draft education policy .  This policy became controversial due to its three language formula recommendation and Tamil Nadu became the first state to oppose the recommendations of new draft policy. The controversy emerged due to the recommendations where the mention points were :- 1) Every Hindi speaking state have to follow the policy and students have to study the language Hindi,English and any other regional language 2) Every non-Hindi speaking state have to follow the policy and student have to study  their regional language, Hindi and English From above recommendations we can conclude that the southern states or non-hindi speaking states have lesser option to choose and there are more options for Hindi speaking states, but the main motive of this move which government expressed was to inculcate a sense of unity which GOI think can be brought through giving knowledge of offic...
