National education policy
Government of India after election of 2019 confessed to focus on education and drafted a new draft education policy .
This policy became controversial due to its three language formula recommendation and Tamil Nadu became the first state to oppose the recommendations of new draft policy.
The controversy emerged due to the recommendations where the mention points were :-
1) Every Hindi speaking state have to follow the policy and students have to study the language Hindi,English and any other regional language
2) Every non-Hindi speaking state have to follow the policy and student have to study their regional language, Hindi and English
From above recommendations we can conclude that the southern states or non-hindi speaking states have lesser option to choose and there are more options for Hindi speaking states, but the main motive of this move which government expressed was to inculcate a sense of unity which GOI think can be brought through giving knowledge of official language of India and making less Use of English.
If we analyse the statement of GOI , they are violating or abrrogating the fundamental rights of a citizen which give right to express in whichever language he/she wants.

Now, GOI cleared this issue by releasing statement that choice of Hindi is not compulsory and this is upto the states to make their children study hindi.
Coming to other recommendations of the policy , I will point out some merits and demerits of this policy
MERITS
1) This policy talks about preschool education which is a welcome move, as it expands aegis of RTE which was in 6-14 age bracket to much bigger 3-18 age bracket.
2)This policy talks about the reforms in the current social practice of examinations by continuous evaluation of child at every stage and providing them practical knowledge.
3) This policy give incentives for a good teacher training program and eradicating problems of lack of teacher by hiring the volunteers.
4) This policy talks about the higher education and solving the problem faced by the scholars and to improve the research environment of India by providing proper finance.
5) This policy talks about the infrastructure problem and give the solutions for that .
6) This policy also talks about the low spending of India in its education and to increase the public spending and budget allocation for education sector.
7) This policy is also promoting the use of regional language in education system.
DEMERITS
With every Merit there comes a demerit , there are some for the draft new education policy also
1) This Policy if we see, gives a sequential learning programme for child like reading for child upto age 3 , writing for child from age 3-6 , which in turn will bring down the whole idea of preschool learning which encourages practices like reading, writing etc. simultaneously.
2) Though this policy talks about the lack of teachers in school and provide solutions like hiring of volunteers , there might be a case where the volunteer hired as a teacher will not be that proficient as a B.Ed person which will again affect the system.
3) This policy talks about reforming the system of examination by continuous evaluation of child at every level, there must a clause be added to provide moral education to the distracting children of our country by encouraging them to study books apart from their course which can increase their social awareness as well as practical knowledge.
4) This education policy still lags behind by not recommending compulsory sports to the children.
Education plays a very important role in the life of a person, it helps in making personality of a person and developing some skills and essential qualities of intellect in him. Move of GOI , to reform the education system is a welcome move but a critical evaluation of the education policy of other countries and comparing it with India's is necessary .
